Notes about the files in this directory
=======================================

This directory and the files in it are part of avmaic, the CAPI driver for
active ISDN boards from AVM. As active ISDN boards do only work with some
firmware loaded, the avmaic driver comes with the files necessary to drive the
supported boards.

Strictly speaking the firmware files in this directory are not part of the
avmaic driver. They are from and belong to the AVM GmbH, Berlin, Germany. AVM
is neither responsible for the avmaic driver, nor will they provide any support
for it. This is the task of the FreeBSD community in general, and specifially
the author of the driver <mailto:twinterg@gmx.de> or other willing persons.

The firmware files are provided with permission from AVM, so the boards will
work without the need to first download the firmware files from some web site.
The most recent versions can be obtained from AVM <http://www.avm.de> or from
<ftp://ftp.in-berlin.de/pub/capi4linux>. The later site has the advantage of
providing the firmware as pure files, You do not have to extract them from
packages for other operating systems. AVM themselves do only provide complete
packages for operating systems they support directly.

The firmware files in this directory have the following meaning:

b1.t4 - Firmware for AVM-B1, all variants, for DSS1
b1-1tr6.t4 - Firmware for AVM-B1, all variants, for old German 1TR6
b1-usa.t4 - Firmware for AVM-B1, all variants, for U.S. protocols
c2.bin - Firmware for AVM-C2, DSS1
c4.bin - Firmware for AVM-C4, DSS1
t1.t4 - Firmware for AVM-T1, DSS1
t1-1tr6.t4 - Firmware for AVM-T1, for old German 1TR6
t1b.t4 - Firmware for AVM-T1B, DSS1
t1b-1tr6.t4 - Firmware for AVM-T1B, for old German 1TR6

See avmaic.4 and avmaicctl.8 for how to load the boards with the firmware.
